mirage 39 (Opinion about this sail boat?)

![]() Date: 10/18/2015 08:35PM Looking for a larger boat, stumbled across a fresh water Mirage 39. Really like the layout and size and would like to make an offer but not a lot of info on this boat on line.
Any thoughts. known issues? Also checked the Kirby_Mirage site. Unfortunate that info is slim to none on this model.. Engine seems a little under powered. 28 HP Volvo? What are sailing characteristics (PHRF), what is the keel made of (steel or lead). Will it work for the caribbean or is draft too hi (I think 6 ft 3 in). Is the hull solid fiberglass, what about the deck? Delamination problems? Is it known for osmosis issues? I realize a survey can answer a lot but it is nice to get info before making an offer and surveying. Appreciate if there are any owners out there I can contact. Not a plus for me although I know it is not necessarily a problem in itself. Re: mirage 39 (Opinion about this sail boat?)

A good inspection before purchase will tell you that. ![]() Re: mirage 39 (Opinion about this sail boat?)

![]() ![]() Date: 07/27/2017 02:25PM I have a Mirage 39... Hull number 002...
Excellent boat all around.. Performs well with a good set of sails and will handle exceptionally well in 25+ Wind conditions.. They Mirage 39 was only produced in 1989 before Mirage Yachts switched to producing fiberglass pools. There are probably less that 10 boats around, but its built using standard parts available anywhere. As for the hull, the boat I purchased was inspected and other for the rudder being wet 12 years ago (i had it rebuit for 2000$ this year), (wet rudders are a standard problem on all boats built in the 80's .. I would not trade my 39 for any recent construction.. If you want more info contact me, I know the boat Inside and out. Salutations, Eric ![]() |
