Mistral 12 Flooding Problems (Boat maintenance)
Posted by:
![]() Date: 08/18/2011 02:06PM I have a newly purchased Mistral 12 manufactured in 1982. I have a problem with flooding of the internal flotation chambers. This boat sunk on its maiden voyage. When the boat was lifted a large amount of water flowed out of the stern port below the self bailer port with the hinged door. What is the function of this port which appears to not require a plug. The question is does it require a plug? There are some cracks at the junction of the sole and the vertical wall of the seat. I doubt that a high volume of water is entering at this point. The cabin does stay dry as the interior flotation chambers flood. Re: Mistral 12 Flooding Problems (Boat maintenance)

We plugged the outflow of a shop vac vacuum cleaner on the outflow plug of the boat. Sure enough a round hole was (puncture hole) was letting air out. We plugged the hole with Marine Tek. It is still holding tight, no water leak. Daniel |
