Sailing Small Boats (Various - Pot-Pourri)
Posted by:
![]() Date: 04/10/2011 09:03PM I had a 28' Winthrop Warner (wooden, 9 tons-1935 vintage) staysail cutter for a few years but found the maintenance too time consuming and expensiv so I bought a new Island 17 sloop and sailed it for about 25 years, It was great for the children to learn how to sail. We later found a mini-ocean racer an Able Poitin 24 which was a wonderful day sailor as Pi got on in years. then I started restoring a small catboat class known as the WoodPussy and attempted to generate Interest in racing these little 13 1/2 ' beauties. But the class didn't want to be awakened. I'm trying again thi syear. Take a look at the class website where I've made a lot of web postings [groups.yahoo.com]
Last week I found a 12' sailing dinghy know as a "Skimmar" and will restore it r=for my grandchildren this year. It looks like it will be a fun boat. It's sloop rigged but I can't locate much information about this class. The boat was made by Aero Nautical Inc Ct., but there isn't much published about the class.
