Joey (IP Logged)Date: 12/07/2006 11:18PM Hello all, I just purchased a DS22 and it is my first boat. I am thrilled with the thought of sailing off Boston Harbor this upcoming season. The boat didn't come with any type of owners manual or other literature. If anybody knows where I can find anything like this please let me know.
Be well, Joey Re: DS22 sailboat owners manual (Various - Pot-Pourri)

Veiko Tutti (IP Logged)Date: 03/10/2007 11:57AM Tha would be of great help, obtaining a Manual for the DS 22. Especially in operating the centre-board. My address is:

Date: 03/17/2007 06:34AM Hi Veiko, I do not have any manual on the DS 22, It is only a 4 page brochure of advertisement with some comments on the boat, dimensions and photos. The only comment on the center-board is this "INTEGRAL MOULDED KEEL TO AEROFOIL SHAPE, WITH CENTERBOARD TRUNK INCORPORATED. 890# BALLAST BONDED IN. 93# STEEL PLATE WITH "NO LEAK" PIVOT CENTERBOARD, COCKPIT OPERATED". Hope this can help. Re: DS22 sailboat owners manual (Various - Pot-Pourri) (Boat maintenance)

Dwight Elmer (IP Logged)Date: 04/20/2007 09:28PM Had a DS22 years ago. Loved the boat but realized that you need to keep the centerboard clean of debris even in fresh water. I had a friend of mine with dive equipment go under the boat in its berth and scrape the centerboard. Made a world of difference retracting the keel. We sold boat that fall but had plans to build a cradle for her to facilitate scraping, cleaning, repainting of centerboard and cleaning out the slot. Robert (Bob) McIvor (IP Logged)Date: 05/27/2007 09:22AM I have a 1985 DS22 (Fixed Keel) and like most owners, do not have operating manual. I bought my boat last summer, and expect to sail this June.
All information that I have heard is positive on the boat, and I have had discussions with a previous owner who regrets selling his and is looking for another. I would be happy to share information and would be pleased to hear from any interested. 4430 Side Road 10, RR22, Cambridge, ON N4C 2V4 (Canada) (Boat is at Bronte Outer Harbour Marina in Oakville, ON.) 519 249 1588 Re: DS22 sailboat owners manual (Various - Pot-Pourri) (Boat maintenance)

Robert Watson (IP Logged)Date: 07/23/2009 04:43PM I have a DS 22 Sailboat. The centreboard is stuck. Stupid of me to forget to raise centreboard last fall and hence it is really stuck with the wire rope jammed in between the trunk and the board. Still have an interest in lauching this year. Has anyone in this forum ever considered healing the boat in shallow water to release centreboard? Bob Re: DS22 sailboat owners manual (Various - Pot-Pourri) (Boat maintenance)

Thank you kindly for your assistance. I think I have a solution albeit an expensive on. I have an advertisement brochure. Is this what you have also ? Or is it a technical one the depicts the centerboard in it housing?. Sincerely.Bob Re: DS22 sailboat owners manual & other questions

Peteris (IP Logged)Date: 07/11/2010 12:10PM Hello...recently purchased an '85 DS22. Have started sailing it and at launch had a lot of trouble getting the drop-keel to drop. Finally accomplished it with the use of force and determination. I can sympathize with all previous comments and will at crane-out time this fall clean out that slot. Does anyone have any suggestions about rigging - specifically the positioning of jib-sheets as they seem to always get tangled on the cleats of the mast and/or stays. Thanks, Peteris. |
